Border insurance is a type of insurance required by law for entering the Republic of Azerbaijan with a vehicle, if a Green Card is not presented upon entry. This insurance covers damages caused to third parties in road traffic accidents. It is not possible to cross the Azerbaijani border without either a valid Green Card or border insurance policy.

You can obtain the border insurance contract either online via the tpl.az platform or by directly contacting insurance companies. Once the required information is submitted and the payment is completed, the insurance contract is confirmed, and the insurance policy becomes legally effective.
Question: How can I make the payment?
The payment for the provided service can be made at the final stage of the application process directly through the tpl.az platform, using any bank card via the Government Payment Portal (GPP) system. Additionally, payment can also be made in cash through payment terminals available both at the border control points and across the country.
Question: What should I do if the payment fails or a problem occurs?
If you experience payment issues, check your card balance or payment details. If the problem persists, contact the support team at tpl.az by calling +99412 525 97 07.
Question: How will I receive the insurance policy?
After completing your payment on tpl.az, your insurance policy is registered with the insurance company you selected. To receive a copy of the policy (e.g., in PDF format), you must contact that insurance company.
Question: Is border insurance valid throughout Azerbaijan?
Yes, once issued, border insurance is valid across the entire territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the duration specified in the policy.
Question: Can I extend my border insurance if I stay longer than planned?
Yes, you can extend your insurance coverage by purchasing a new policy either through tpl.az or from one of the insurance companies before your current one expires.
Question: What documents do I need to obtain border insurance?
To obtain border insurance, you typically need your vehicle registration certificate and a valid identity document or a taxpayer identification number (TIN). When ordering online via tpl.az, you will be asked to enter the relevant information from these documents to register a new border insurance contract.
